10 Things to Know About GFX 2024

Government Fleet Expo & Conference provides actionable solutions to the toughest challenges public fleets face.

4 min to read

For anyone who has attended the Government Fleet Expo & Conference, there is usually more than one reason for attending. That's what GFX is all about — creating a space where fleet professionals from across the industry can converge to learn, connect, and come away with a better understanding of how to face challenges ahead.

For 2024, GFX truly will be bigger and better, with new conference tracks dedicated to police fleets and public transit. It’s the same GFX past attendees love and know, just elevated. Start planning out your schedule today so you'll be GFX-ready.

10 Things to Know Ahead of GFX 2024

1. Attend One-of-a-Kind Sessions, Panels, and Roundtables: GFX brings together top industry professionals who share their takes on current issues and how they’ve overcome challenges within their own fleets. From Shop Talks to two-part series (check out the county and city case studies on ZEV Infrastructure for a Decentralized Fleet) each session offers attendees a chance to dig deeper into challenges and see how other fleets are facing the same issues.

2. Discover the Latest Products, Ideas, Innovations, and More on the Trade Show Floor: Want a glimpse into the future? This is where it’s done. With a full showroom floor of to explore what companies are offering fleets, this is a good opportunity to speak directly with someone who can tell you more about the tech and products that fleets are adopting. And don’t forget, this is also where you can find the Shop Talks to continue your learning experience.

3. Network, Network, Network: Whether you’re new to GFX, haven’t attended in a while, or go every year, this is where you want to be to expand your network of fleet colleagues. From coffee breaks to after-session discussions to an interactive breakout, GFX makes it easy to connect with other fleet professionals from not only North America but around the world. A great place to start is with our First-Timer’s Orientation to get a better understanding of the event.

4. Head Over to the Block Party: The GFX Block Party is where it gets hands-on with ride and drives,  experiential learning, and a technology showcase. This is the place to test out new vehicles and learn what they can do for fleets. The Block Party is a whole experience in itself not only letting you sign up to test drive vehicles but have fun in between learning thanks to a fun street fair atmosphere with food, drinks, games, and prizes.

5. Learn from and Connect with Fleet Organizations: On top of connecting with peers throughout the industry, GFX brings together members from established organizations such as the Municipal Equipment Maintenance Association, Black Fleet Network, and more. If you’re not already a part of an industry organization this is a great opportunity to meet the people who are helping to further education and connections within the fleet industry.

6. Become a Better Leader: Are you in management or looking to take on a leadership role and want to improve your leadership skills? GFX allows you to meet with former award winners (as well as the 2024 winners) to understand the work they’ve been putting into their organizations and the changes they have made to receive notoriety. If you’re looking to improve how you lead, this is where you go to learn from the best.

7. Get a Better Understanding of Government Fleet: You know GFX but do you know the people behind it? Stop by the Bobit booth to meet the editors and talk with them about content, what goes into GFX planning, or share some ideas you have for the next event. It’s a great chance to talk one-on-one with the people behind the publications. You’ll meet with the executive editor and senior editor of Government Fleet and the executive editor of METRO.

8. Be a Part of the Honors Celebration: You're invited to be a part of the awards ceremony recognizing operations that are performing at a high level in fleet innovation and leadership. Each year, Government Fleet magazine will name 50 Leading Fleets as well as the Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year recipient, honor the inaugural group of Public Fleet Hall of Fame inductees, and announce the Legendary Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.

9. Take in Some Louisville History: GFX 2024 will be held in the heart of Louisville’s downtown at the Kentucky International Convention Center. Surrounded by noteworthy attractions such as the Louisville Slugger Museum, 4th Street Live!, and the Mohamed Ali Center, there is no shortage of places to be during your free time. And don’t forget to attend the Networking Night on the Town to unwind and talk about the day with other attendees.

10. Attend the New Police and Public Transit Tracks: Returning with renewed vigor, the Police Fleet Conference track is back at GFX 2024. This track is tailored for law enforcement fleet professionals, offering insights into essential aspects of police fleet management. In a new move, GFX 2024 introduces the all-new Public Transit Conference track. This dedicated space is designed for public transit professionals, industry experts, and fleet managers to delve into the latest advancements and challenges shaping the world of public transit fleets in 2024.
