Tom Brotherton, regional director of Calstart, spoke about the California Air Resources Board Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP). HVIP provides funding to fleets purchasing medium- and heavy-duty hybrid vehicles by partially paying for the incremental cost of these vehicles. While funding for this fiscal year has been exhausted, Brotherton expects the program will receive an additional $5 million in funding, available by October. The program has given out 1,700 vouchers in the past 40 months.
