The fleet manager at the City of Midvale, Utah, is charged with a pair of second-degree felonies including communications fraud, theft, and a pattern of unlawful activity, reports the Salt Lake Tribune.
Bryce Westcott, who was the fleet and facilities manager for the city, was in charge of a $2.3 million lighting contract and used his position to secure the contract for a company he co-founded, according to court documents cited in the report.
He also allegedly received money to ensure the sale of a city backhoe to a business partner, which was immediately resold for a higher price.
