2010 Government Fleet Expo & Conference (GFX)

More than 550 public sector fleet professionals and industry suppliers gathered June 21-23 for the 3rd annual 2010 Government Fleet Expo & Conference (GFX), held at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. The top 20 of the 100 Best Fleets for 2010 were announced in an awards presentation at GFX.

Gerry Calk (far right), fleet officer for the City of Austin, welcomed attendees upon their arrival to the city's fleet facility.

City fleet staff conducted several brief presentations on systems and processes currently utilized in the facility.

Attendees were then allowed to roam the facility site on their own.

More than 90 exhibitor booths were displayed on the expo floor.

Exhibitors networked with attendees on the Expo show floor, providing product demos and information.

A packed show floor provided attendees with multiple opportunities to meet with exhibitors.

Attendees who visited all booths at the expo were eligible for raffle prizes, including an iPad, a flat screen TV and a miniature Dodge Charger police car from Chrysler (pictured here).

Several 2011 models were available for viewing on the show floor.

One of the vehicles on display on the Expo show floor was Chrysler Corp.'s all-new Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle (PPV)






Rick Longobart, City of Santa Ana, Calif., won the first-ever Government Fleet magazine Visionary Leadership Award, which recognized Longobart for being an innovative fleet manager.

GFX provided numerous networking opportunities durings meals and session breaks.

A networking roundtable offered on June 22 gave attendees a chance to discuss challenges and possible solutions in a small group setting, then present those ideas to the entire room.


Hillborough County's Sharon Subadan challenged fleets to "take the reins" in her opening keynote speech. Subadan was one of several award-winning public sector fleet managers attracting crowds during sessions.
