Fleet professionals were asked how their fleet size had changed in the past year — more respondents reported an increase this year and slightly less reported a decrease; last year, 36% reported an increase, 14% a decrease, and 50% the same. The majority of those with decreased fleet sizes who stated the reason for the decrease said this was due to optimization or right-sizing initiatives. Source: GF Industry Trends Survey 2015

FEDERAL FLEET: The average ages of vehicles across all categories are: 6 years for civilian agencies, 7.5 years for military agencies, and 19.6 years for the postal service. The United States Postal Service fleet consists of vehicles that are about three times older than other agencies’ vehicles. Source: U.S. GSA

FEDERAL FLEET: Gasoline and diesel vehicle totals have decreased slightly from the previous year, while gasoline hybrid vehicles have increased by nearly 26%. E-85 vehicles have increased by 3%. Note that some vehicles may be considered alternative-fuel vehicles even if they use petroleum fuel if they are acquired for use in locations where the alternative fuel is not available.
