One of the fleet’s challenges will be keeping up with an expanding compressed natural gas (CNG) fleet. Vehicles are now repaired outside under an awning.

Recently installed safety harnesses (pictured) protect technicians working on top of tall trucks.

In September, the fleet implemented a preventive maintenance appointment system online, with two bays dedicated to preventive maintenance.

William Marrero, fleet logistics technician, handles sublets, invoices, and requisitions.

Neighborhood electric vehicles are used by Parks and Parking employees. 

The fleet consists of 2,700 light-duty vehicles. 

VacCon trucks are used for storm sewer cleaning.

The Police Department received the armored truck for a nominal price and asked fleet to transform it into a bomb truck.

Five heavy-duty trucks for the Solid Waste Department are waiting to be put in service.

Tim Hahn (left) and Ernie Reina refurbished and upfitted this Tampa Police Department bomb truck, saving the city nearly $200,000.
