Fleet Facility Tour: San Diego County, Calif.

The new facility services 1,900 of the county's vehicles and equipment. It is the biggest of the county's eight maintenance facilities.

The facility has a light-duty side, a heavy-duty side, and flex bays for any type of work.

The new facility includes a centralized oil distribution system.

The county has outsourced parts management for nearly 20 years.

The fleet has 32 service bays, which means each technician has two to three bays to work on.

The indoor exhaust evacuation system along with carbon dioxide sensors, allows technicans to work even when the doors are closed. The exhaust system is capable of doing five complete air exchanges every hour.
