AssetWorks announced it has finalized its partnership with Pitstop to provide integrated, artificial intelligence-powered predictive maintenance technology to fleets across the globe.

How Does Pitstop's Technology Work?

AI uses existing data to solve problems; predictive maintenance does the same. AI, which uses real-time data and algorithms to produce an outcome, takes away the human guesswork that's involved in predictive maintenance. In the case of vehicle maintenance, it uses a vehicle's health history and telematics data to determine potential future problems.

AssetWorks recently wrapped up a pilot with the city of Long Beach, California, testing the technology on more than 600 of the city's vehicles.

As reported by Government Fleet in May 2023, Pitstop’s software consolidated over 10 billion data points from mixed-vehicle fleets to generate predictive insights on critical vehicle components like battery health, brakes, fuel systems, tires, and engine airflow for vehicles in Long Beach's fleet.

Vehicles can generate hundreds of codes on their telematics devices daily, leading to what Long Beach Fleet Services Manager Dan Berlenbach, CPFP, called "data overload." The overwhelming amount of information can make it challenging for fleet managers to analyze the data to predict when a vehicle might need to be serviced or repaired.

Pitstop's algorithm uses vehicle health data from vehicles’ telematics devices managed by AssetWorks software to provide the predictive insights.

“This partnership with Pitstop has the potential to change the way our customers run their fleets,” AssetWorks Sr. Industry Consultant Marc Knight, Sr. said. “The integration makes artificial intelligence and predictive maintenance a reality for fleets.”

Because the data provides predictive insights based on a vehicle's history, it can cut down on diagnostic time, freeing up technicians to get more work done.

"Fleet uptime is at the center of our modern supply chain. The partnership between AssetWorks and Pitstop marks the exciting introduction of an AI-based predictive analytics solution to the largest fleets in the country. Without the strain of additional hardware or time-consuming implementation, fleets can instantly benefit from improved diagnostic efficiency, reduced tow cost and downtime, all while leveraging their existing data and platform." Pitstop CEO and Founder Shiva Bhardwaj said. "Pitstop's AI is poised to unlock a new era of innovation, efficiency and reliability for fleets. We look forward to working with AssetWorks' impressive customer base to further streamline their operations."

Pitstop's predictive maintenance software is available as an add-on to AssetWorks customers.

AssetWorks will host a webinar to share more about its partnership with Pitstop on August 17, 2023. You can register for the webinar here.
