The City of Culver City, Calif., is hiring a fleet services assistant to join its fleet team.

The City of Culver City was named the No. 1 fleet in 2013 and is an Elite Fleet. The fleet team manages and maintains 580 units.

The duties of the position include: performing scheduled preventive maintenance of passenger vehicles, trucks, and specialized equipment; washing, fueling, and servicing city motorized equipment that may include gasoline, diesel, natural gas, and propane fuel types; performing routine and periodic service inspections of city equipment; inspecting and troubleshooting minor mechanical problems; performing minor non-technical repairs such as replacing switches, fuses, flashers, headlights, taillights, belts, spark plugs, windshield wipers, tires, and radiator hoses; and assisting senior fleet services technicians in repairs of motorized equipment.

The candidate must have a Class C driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Class B license with passenger (P) endorsement within 90 days. The person must also obtain a Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning (MVAC) certification within six months of employment. The position is required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and odd shifts.

The position pays between $20.18 and $22.30 hourly. The last day to apply is Nov. 4. The city is also hiring for a fleet services technician and a senior fleet services technician. For more information or to apply, visit the Culver City website.
