Lenawee County, Mich., commissioners authorized $120,000 for four new patrol vehicles rather than the $500,000 requested by the sheriff to replace additional units.
Sheriff Jack Welsh had requested additional funding above the annual allocation of $100,000 for new-vehicle purchases. Welsh complained Monday that County Administrator Martin Marshall had ignored his requests for additional funds, reports The Daily Telegram.
Welsh plans to purchase Chevrolet Tahoe police vehicles, which cost up to $28,000 each.
