Saginaw County, Mich., has increased the cost of a maintenance contract with the City of Saginaw under a cooperative agreement causing the city to pay twice as much as first negotiated.

Under terms of the amended contract, the city would pay $20,000 a year for county-provided maintenance services for five patrol vehicles. The initial estimate for the services was $10,000.

The county based the new price on the cost of maintaining sheriff's patrol units, and added additional consideration because the city agency "has older vehicles with different maintenance needs," reports MLive.com.

The county has been providing maintenance to the city vehicles for the past six months under a pilot program.
