Lebanon County, Pa., commissioners have shifted toward a fleet leasing strategy to reduce maintenance costs when replacing aging fleet vehicles, reports the Lebanon Daily News.

The county plans to lease 55 new vehicles over the next five years to eventually replace the county's existing 50 vehicles. Maintenance bills, especially from the sheriff's fleet of vehicles, have come in at nearly $45,000 per year.

The county is moving toward awarding the leasing contract to Enterprise Fleet Management of Harrisburg, who beat out Acme Auto Leasing of North Haven, Conn. Enterprise submitted a bid of $59,344 compared to Acme's bid of $64,044. The contract will be awarded next month.
