Ohio's Shawnee Township Fire Department has recently purchased two new trucks thanks to funds from a tax levy that voters passed in November 2021.

The department first purchased a 2022 Pierce Enforcer Rescue Pumper to replace a truck that was built in 1994. The new $810,000 engine is two and half times the cost of the last engine they bought in 2010, according to a story from Your Hometown Stations.

Shawnee Twp. Fire Department Chief Todd Truesdale told the news outlet that instead of taking two trucks to a motor vehicle accident, now only one will be needed as extrication equipment along with firefighting equipment will be on the truck.

The department also acquired a 2022 Ford F550 4×4 Braun Ambulance, bringing the ambulance fleet to three. The four-wheel-drive truck comes from Braun Industries in Van Wert and costs $270,000. The truck has UV lighting, UV heating, and a cooling system designed to kill COVID and other various bacteria, according to the news story.

According to a Facebook post from the Shawnee Township Fire Department Levy Committee in November 2021, the last new levy was in 2006.
