INDIANOLA, IN - A $1.1 million Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant will help the Warren County Engineer Department buy new vehicles for its fleet, according to the Des Moines Register.

Warren County got approval last week to buy four vehicles and hire two employees. The two blades, tandem truck and semi-tractor vehicle will be purchased using funds from a $1.1 million Federal Emergency Management Agency grant, said Mark Lee, county engineer.

Also with permission of the Warren County Board of Supervisors, Lee hired an assistant engineer and a mechanic.

Lee also increased the number of motor graders, which the office uses to plow snow, from 10 to 12, which shortens the number of miles that each plow operator has to cover. That amount dropped from approximately 90 miles per operator to between 70 and 80 miles, according to Bob Baldwin, county engineering technician.

By spring, county officials expect to finish two FEMA-sponsored projects and start a third, reported the Register.
