Ann Arbor, Mich.,’s city council approved a resolution in early March that directs the municipality’s city administrator to review upcoming fleet purchases in order to potentially add more electric vehicles (EVs), according to City documents.

The resolution also directs the city administrator to develop a city-wide electric vehicle charging station infrastructure plan for City fleet and to report back to the council in six months on any barriers to implementation that would require council actions to resolve.

In 2011, the Ann Arbor city council approved a plan that would require the city to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% compared with levels in the year 2000 by a deadline of 2015. The plan also requires the City to get 30% of its energy for municipal operations by that date. Adding EVs is part of this plan, according to City documents.
