DIAMOND BAR, CA - The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) has extended its deadline for Carl Moyer Program funding to Nov. 20.
Created in 1999, the Carl Moyer Program provides monetary grants to help businesses and public agencies clean up their heavy-duty diesel engines more than required by air pollution regulations. The grants cover a percentage of the cost of cleaner projects. Maximum funding is dependent on the project category and type.
The program continues to drive early introduction of clean air technologies that reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NOx), particulate matter (PM), and reactive organic gases (ROG) caused by the combustion of diesel fuel in heavy-duty engines.
To be eligible for Carl Moyer Program funds, projects must be in compliance with CARB Fleet Rules, meet the cost-effectiveness threshold of $16,000 per ton of total reduced emissions, and be completed and fully operational prior to May 2011. If insufficient proposals are received in any project category, AQMD may reallocate funds to another category.
