The Williamson Valley-Bagdad (Ariz.) Fire District is rolling out three new fire-fighting apparatus, including an upgraded military truck, refurbished vehicle, and apparatus purchased from a nearby department.

The district put the vehicles into service on March 12, the agency announced on its Facebook page.

"The addition of these apparatuses to our fleet will provide a cost-effective means to advance our district’s level of service and community safety," said Fire Chief Bryan Smith.

One of the vehicles is a military Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV) that has been upgraded to meet the requirements of wildland firefighting apparatus. It offers all-wheel drive capability and can haul 1,000 gallons of water and will be the agency's primary fire attack engine for wildfires.

The agency also added a refurbished military apparatus as an airport crash rescue vehicle that will serve Bagdad Airport. Its mounted turret dispenses a flame-suppressing foam solution engineered to extinguish aircraft fires. Additionally, this rig will double as a special operations response unit for technical rescue emergencies.

The third vehicle is a water tender that was purchased from the Mayer Fire Department. It's specifically designed to transport water to fire scenes with no fire hydrants.
