AssetWorks, a provider of integrated fleet, electric vehicle (EV), fuel, and asset management solutions, announced the launch of its latest product, integrated EV charge management software (CMS).

The AssetWorks CMS, announced at the 2023 AssetWorks Academy on March 27 in Louisville, Kentucky, was designed by fleet professionals who worked with AssetWorks staff from the earliest design stages to release as co-creation partners. The solution supports the real-time management of electricity as a fuel, allowing fleets to manage their charging with the same precision as liquid fuel.

AssetWorks Chief Operating Officer Pamela Chow shared details about the company's new EV management solution.

"Now that so many fleets...are moving toward electrification, we need to manage every EV charge with the same care and consideration as traditional fuel," AssetWorks Chief Operating Officer Pamela Chow explained as she unveiled the product.

EV Charging Management Made Easy

Features of the software include:

  • Vehicle access control.

  • Scheduling.

  • Electricity cost reporting.

  • Remote control and diagnostics.

  • The highest level of integration with FleetFocus fleet management software.

It also can be used alongside other charging networks.

“From the first login and through every click in the software, it is designed for fleet management processes,” AssetWorks Sr. EV Product Manager Mike Terreri said.

The solution supports both Level 2 AC Chargers and DC Fast Chargers and is built around the Open ChargePoint Protocol (OCPP).

Honoring an Industry Pioneer's Memory

Joseph Basile, the late AssetWorks Vice President of Hardware Solutions, first introduced the company's EV fleet management solution. The company continued with its creation after he died, honoring his memory.

AssetWorks’ journey to developing this solution began years ago with the help and vision of Joseph A. Basile, AssetWorks Vice President of Hardware Solutions. Basile, who championed AssetWorks FuelFocus fuel management system in the 1990s, spearheaded the company’s electrification efforts in order to develop the best possible solution for fleet organizations. Basile passed away after a long battle with cancer in 2022, but the entire AssetWorks team worked together to continue his legacy and launch the charge management software at AssetWorks Academy.

While developing AssetWorks CMS, the company worked with four government fleets: the city of Brampton, Ontario; the city of Carlsbad, California; the Oregon Department of Transportation, and the city of Tallahassee, Florida. The departments shared feedback on five core things they wanted to see the product be able to do:

  • Track costs and usage.

  • Provide access control.

  • Optimal speed charge & manage costs.

  • Remote diagnostics.

  • AssetWorks FleetFocus and EAM integration.
