The City of Cleveland has spent $6 million to upgrade its snow removal fleet to avoid a similar debacle from a year ago when many of its trucks were out of service and couldn't respond to clear snow, reports Cleveland.com.

During a recent news conference, Chief Operating Officer Darnell Brown showed off the street division's new vehicles, including 31 single or tandem-axle snowplow trucks and five pickup trucks with plows.

The new vehicles bring the city's fleet to 75 vehicles, up from 58 a year ago. The city will use the same staffing from a year ago with 125 drivers, including 31 full-time and 94 seasonal.
