A weekend fire destroyed four front-loading refuse trucks owned by the Halifax County, Va., Public Works Department, including a new 2014 Mack trash truck. The county's five trucks were parked a few feet apart inside the locked Public Works facility, the Gazette-Virginian reported.
The cause has not yet been determined, but officials believe it's accidental. An early estimate of damages to the fleet is $900,000. A remaining recycling truck will be used for trash collection until the county can determine a replacement plan, according to the news source.
