Sales of vehicles to government agencies from five manufacturers fell 17.3% to 22,823 units in September, but remain solidly positive through three quarters of 2016, according to Automotive Fleet data.
Passenger cars registered the sharpest decline during the month by falling 31.9% to 4,909 units compared to the same month a year ago. Sales of trucks, vans, and SUVs fell 13.3% to 17,914 units.
Government fleet sales remain strong through September with a 22.9% increase to 179,934 units. Truck-based sales have increased 26.3% to 142,020, while passenger car sales have increased 7.1% to 37,914 units.
