Sales of vehicles from five manufacturers to government agencies increased 26.2% to 28,476 in May with double-digit increases in the car and truck categories, according to Automotive Fleet data.
Sales of trucks, vans, and SUVs increased 26.3% to 22,942 units, while sales of passenger cars increased 25.6% to 5,534 vehicles.
Fleet sales have been strong for the first five months of 2016, as the manufacturers increased sales 38.1% to 127,375 units. Year-to-date sales in the truck category increased 39.1% to 102,657 units, while passenger cars sales have grown 34.3% to 24,718 for the year.
