Sales of vehicles to government fleets from nine vehicle manufacturers rose 5.6% in August to 23,405 units as trucks, vans, and SUVs continue to power purchasing in this fleet vertical, according to Automotive Fleet data.
Truck-based sales increased 26.7% to 14,942 units for the month compared to August of 2014, while sales of police cars and other passenger cars fell 38% to 7,212 units.
Government fleet sales remain in the negative year to date with a 6.9% decline to 168,680 vehicles. Truck-based sales have increased 4.2% to 119,069 for the first eight months of 2015, while car sales have fallen 33.5% to 49,611 units.
