Sales of vehicles from nine manufacturers to government fleets increased 3% to 22,159 units in September, which helped somewhat reverse a yearlong trend of falling sales, according to Automotive Fleet data.
Trucks, vans, and SUVs provided a stout month with a 27% increase to 17,914 vehicles, while sales of passenger cars fell 39% to 8,051 units.
Year to date, sales to government fleets has fallen 5.7% to 190,839 units. Through September, the truck category has increased 6.6% to 133,177 units, while the car category has decreased 34.2% to 57,662 vehicles.
