Sales of vehicles to government agencies from nine manufacturers increased 58.3% to 17,832 units in March compared to a year ago, as sales of trucks and passenger cars spiked, according to Automotive Fleet data.
Sales of trucks, vans, and SUVs increased 54% to 14,960 units from March of 2015, while sales of cars increased 80.7% to 2,872 vehicles.
Year-to-date, government fleet sales have increased 43.9% to 47,944 units compared to the first quarter of 2015. The truck category grew 42.4% to 38,748, while the car category increased 49.8% to 9,196 units.
