Scott County, Iowa, officials debated the county's fleet management plans at a recent board meeting. The debate came up after the county's director of budget and administrative services recommended purchasing a system to balance and align tires, reports the Quad-City Times.
One county supervisor questioned the timing of such a purchase, suggesting that fleet wait until it's more settled in. Scott County recently centralized its fleet operations, creating an in-house fleet manager position earlier this year. Previously, each department was responsible for overseeing its vehicles.
The outgoing Sheriff and Sheriff-Elect shared their disagreement with the board's decision to centralize the fleet, asking about the projected cost savings.
