IronPlanet has been named an NJPA Awarded Contract Vendor by the National Joint Powers Alliance and will begin offering a self-listing online marketplace called GovPlanet Direct to help agencies dispose of smaller items, the online remarketer has announced.

NJPA creates national cooperative contract purchasing solutions on behalf of its member agencies, which include government, education and non-profit agencies in the U.S. and Canada. GovPlanet Direct is built for those entities that use the NJPA to select vendors that they know will deliver the service they need to dispose of surplus efficiently and with the returns they are seeking, according to the company.

GovPlanet Direct is a new self-listing marketplace for public entities. Adding GovPlanet Direct to GovPlanet’s weekly online marketplace and reserve price Daily Marketplace provides a full-service solution to state, local, federal and municipal entities, according to IronPlanet.

Government surplus disposal extends beyond heavy equipment. For that reason, GovPlanet Direct is designed for items that don't require inspection or hands-on help. Items such as office equipment, furniture, electronics, collectibles, industrial equipment and more will be featured on GovPlanet Direct.
