John Deere has introduced its New Generation P-Tier midsize excavators, expanding its earthmoving lineup with updated designs and integrated technology. The launch includes the 210, 230, and 260 P-Tier models in the 20-metric-ton class, which were redesigned, developed, and tested in-house.

The company says the new models reflect extensive customer input gathered during development. According to John Deere, feedback from operators influenced changes across major systems, including the undercarriage, hydraulics, and cab layout.

“Each machine was redesigned using direct input from customer test pilots,” said Justin Steger, product marketing manager at John Deere.

The new excavators underwent more than 165,000 operating hours of real-world testing involving hundreds of customers and operators.

Enhanced Jobsite Performance

The P-Tier models feature updated hydraulic systems and structural enhancements designed to improve digging, lifting, grading, and truck loading performance. Increased dig force and lift capacity support a range of applications, while refined hydraulic tuning contributes to smoother and faster cycle times.

Multiple performance modes — including Dig, Lift, and Eco — allow operators to balance power and fuel use based on job requirements. Operators can also adjust hydraulic response through selectable speed and control settings.

The 210, 230, and 260 P-Tier excavators feature a redesigned cab with more than 27 inches of legroom, expanded storage, adjustable seating, and tool-free armrest and joystick adjustments.

A G5 Plus 12.8-inch touchscreen display allows operators to monitor machine health, manage attachments, and view camera feeds in full or split-screen modes. Controls are centralized through the CommandARM, allowing operators to adjust settings from a single location.

Connectivity features include Remote Display Access, which enables remote viewing of the in-cab monitor for diagnostics and troubleshooting without a subscription. Remote Display Control allows authorized users to adjust machine settings remotely for training or setup purposes.

Optional safety technologies include machine damage avoidance, virtual jobsite boundaries, integrated camera systems, and object detection features designed to improve visibility and situational awareness.

Advanced Technology Features

EZ Control technology simplifies boom, arm, and bucket operation for underground work, supporting smoother lifting and craning functions.

Attachment Manager technology, available on 20-metric-ton models, allows operators to configure and store settings for up to 20 attachments. The system supports features such as grade control, virtual fencing, machine damage avoidance, and SmartWeigh.

SmartWeigh provides dynamic weighing with automatic calibration using onboard sensors. The excavators also include a new auto laser catch feature as part of the 2D Grade Control system, which helps maintain vertical reference without manual joystick input.

All P-Tier midsize excavators include standard 2D Grade Control and can be upgraded to 3D SmartGrade systems compatible with Topcon or Leica solutions.

Dealer Support

The new excavators are supported by John Deere’s authorized dealer network, which provides access to trained technicians, service support, and genuine replacement parts. Integration between the John Deere Operations Center and Shop.Deere.com allows users to order parts directly, supporting ongoing maintenance and uptime.
