Hillsdale County, Mich., will purchase four fully-equipped tandem axle snowplow trucks for a price tag of $788,000 following approval by the county road commission, reports Hillsdale Daily News.
The commission's garage foreman has recommended the purchase of Peterbilt 467 chassis trucks equipped with either a Cummins of Paccar engine. The commission also considered Freightliner and Cat chassis trucks. Peterbilt was chosen due to expected lower maintenance costs. The county expects the trucks to last 10-15 years.
The county chose Knapheide and Truck and Trailer for the equipment and upfitting.
