The Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Public Works Department will receive three new sanitation trucks as part of its efforts to improve its sanitation department. The City Council approved of the purchase of three Labrie Automizers mounted on new autocars for $1.15 million.

The contract came from a bid awarded by Sourcewell. The city has been in a contract with Sourcewell for the procurement of its mobile refuse collection vehicles since 2019, according to city council documents.

The side-arm-loading sanitation truck is designed to fully automate refuse and recyclable collection, according to Joe Johnson Equipment’s website.

Two of the trucks are expected to arrive between September and October, with the last one arriving in December, according to the Rocky Mount Telegram.

The city is working to improve the services its sanitation department provides. This month, the department only had two knuckle-boom trucks in service to collect bulk yard and construction and demolition waste. The town is adding two more knuckle-boom trucks under contract to change that. That contract is with Carolina East Enterprises, the Rocky Mount Telegram reports.
