Rockland County, N.Y., added five Mobility Ventures MV-1 mobility vehicles to the Dept. of Public Transportation’s TRIPS paratransit fleet. The vehicles are smaller than the county’s current paratransit buses, cost $45,984 each, and were bought entirely with funding from the New York State Dept. of Transportation.

The gas-powered low-floor mobility vehicles have an automated side-entry ramp with two deployable modes, Q-straint fully retractable wheelchair securement system, back-up alarm, extra wide access doors, and interior seating for five.

TRIPS is a curbside-to-curbside, shared-ride public paratransit bus service available to eligible residents by appointment.
