The Oklahoma City Fire Department has added 20 fire engines to its fleet. The trucks feature different compartment and interior configurations, but the agency hopes to benefit from two standardized engines, reports News 9.
The trucks cost about $500,000 each and were funded through a limited-time one-cent sales tax that funds the city’s capital improvements program. Fifteen of the new trucks use traditional engines, and the other five use Wildland Urban Interface Engines, which can spray on the move.
Some of the new trucks have already been deployed, and all will be in service by September.
