The City of Orlando has added five compressed natural gas (CNG) refuse trucks in its ongoing effort to green a municipal fleet that now includes 36 electric and hybrid vehicles.

After unveiling the CNG trucks, Mayor Buddy Dyer said the city now has the "greenest" fleet in the southeast U.S., reports the Orlando Sentinel.

The new trucks will reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by about 12.5 tons per year, which is equivalent to taking 325 cars off the road, according to the city. They will also operate 90 percent quieter.

In December of 2013, the city added nine hydraulic hybrid refuse trucks to its fleet.
