Beaufort County, S.C., will spend more than $500,000 to purchase two ambulances, update two others, and hire new paramedics to staff the vehicles.
The County Council allocated $300,000 on Monday to purchase the new vehicles. The council will spend another $230,000 to remount two existing ambulances on new chassis.
The County will also hire 12 paramedics to staff the vehicles, which will run 24 hours, seven days a week. The council approved $350,000 to hire the paramedics, reports the Beaufort Gazette.
