The City of Maryville, Tenn., is $6.6 million behind schedule for its fleet replacement, and will need $1.5 million per year over the next 20 years to catch up to a regular replacement schedule, The Daily Times reported.

The city previously spent only $400,000 for vehicle replacements. It has been delaying replacements since the recession hit, resulting in the shutdown of some mission-critical units.

The city fleet consists of less than 300 vehicles. The City Council will make a decision about how much to fund.
