The City of Harlingen, Texas, will be purchasing 65 gasoline-powered golf carts for $240,000 for the Tony Butler Golf Course, replacing 75 electric golf carts, the Valley Morning Star reported. Golf course management said gasoline-powered golf carts are more cost-efficient than electric carts, which require new $700 batteries about every three years.
Since 2013, the golf course has lost money due to fewer players, like many golf courses across the country.
