The new Kubota KX030-4 compact excavator replaces the KX71-3S in the two- to three-ton
segment, and the company’s construction equipment product manager Bill Holton says one new
feature is that the work light has been repositioned. The light is tucked under the boom so that it's
more protected while providing improved lighting.

“It will have some operational features and creature comforts in the cab for the operator that the
older model that did not have,” Holton said.

The interior features a larger entrance and more cabin and foot space than the KX71-3S.
The operator station itself has been enlarged to provide more space in the operator station, and
the control monitor has been moved forward for better operator visibility.

A large digital operator instrument panel is positioned in the lower right corner of the operator's
line of sight to monitor current working conditions, engine RPM, temperature and oil levels.
The front glass window of the KX030-4 opens more easily by flipping the latch and sliding up,
and the suspension seat and cup holder boost operator comfort.

The new excavator provides more than 500 pounds of additional bucket breakout force than the
KX71-3S and nearly 300 pounds more lifting force.

Power Boost

The KX030-4 is powered by Kubota’s direct-injection diesel engine, and it is engineered to boost
digging and lifting performance and to reduce noise, vibration and fuel consumption.

With an auto-downshift feature, the operator can travel in second speed and make turns without
the need to manually downshift.

With a hydraulic diverter valve located on the dipper arm that comes standard, operators can
more easily switch between attachments. With a standard third-line hydraulic return system, oil
returns directly back to the tank without flowing through the control valves.

By the Numbers

  • Horsepower: 24.7

  • Digging depth: 9 feet, 7 inches

  • Bucket breakout force: 6,924 lbs.

  • Weight: 2.7 tons

  • Width: 4 feet, 11 inches
