Caterpillar has added three new models to the Cat M Series Compact Wheel Loader lineup: 910, 914, and 920, the latter replacing the 918M. New options are available, and certain features available only as options on former models are now standard. All the new models are available in a high-lift configuration, and the 914 and 920 are available in an aggregate-handling configuration.

Among the design changes is a new engine for all three models; the Cat C3.6 replaces the C4.4, and with the new engine, all models get a horsepower boost. Also new for the 910 and 914 is an available rotary-sensor-kickout system with both fork and bucket settings. The new dual-setting feature is now included in the 920’s standard kickout system. Additional rear guarding is now available for the 914 and 920, and new auxiliary hydraulic lines are available when the three- or four-valve option is selected. Other new options include a reversing fan, LED working and under-hood lights, Fusion coupler for the 914, and USB ports in the cab.

The new Cat C3.6 engine has the same torque performance as the previous Cat 4.4, and also provides a modest increase in rated gross power, increasing from 101 to 111 hp for the 910 and 914, and from 117 to 122 hp for the 920. Caterpillar estimates up to 5% gains in fuel-efficiency with the new engine, and the C3.6 meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards. Fuel-tank capacity also is increased by 2.9 gallons for the new loaders, allowing extended work cycles.
