Fleet order banks for the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning are officially open. Fleets will see several updates on the new model year truck designed to enhance charging capabilities and ease power consumption.

Reduced Power Consumption with Ford's VIHP

All 2024 model year Lightning trims will have Ford’s Vapor Injection Heat Pump (VIHP), which is designed to ‘turbocharge’ the refrigerant system to help improve heat transfer capability and reduce power consumption

Ford’s patented heat pump system uses vapor injection in both heating and cooling modes to help optimize system performance in various ambient temperatures. This helps deliver an EPA-estimated range of 240 miles on a standard battery.

Faster Charging Capabilities with On-Board Charging

Also new for the 2024 model year, the F-150 Lightning has a new on-board charging configuration.

Standard and extended range Lightnings now come with an 11.5kW onboard charger standard.

A fleet-only option is available to increase onboard charger capacity to 19.2 kW, which is recommended for fleets requiring faster charging capability. This option is only available on the Lightning Pro and Lightning Flash.

Both new offerings — in addition to Ford Pro’s telematics software, charging solutions, and fleet financing solutions — are aimed at fleet managers transition fleets to EVs, accelerate productivity, and reduce total cost of ownership.

According to Ford, scheduled maintenance costs for F-150 Lightning trucks are estimated to be over 40% less than the average scheduled maintenance costs for a gas-powered F-150 over 5 years or 75,000 miles.

The estimated average maintenance costs per gas F-150 are $1,499, while estimated average maintenance costs for the Lightning are $813.40
