Ariz. Police Chief Sends Officers to Driving School

The department will participate in a nationally recognized safe driver program known as Below 100, which has the intention of keeping the number of officers killed or injured in car crashes below 100 nationwide.

The chief of the Casa Grande Police Department (CGPD) in Arizona has decided to send his patrol officers back to driving school following a series of minor accidents involving the agency’s vehicles. Nine CGPD vehicles have been involved in accidents since April, reports PinalCentral.com, compared to five such accidents in all of 2016.

Patrol officers are now required to undergo accident avoidance training and back-up training. In addition, the department will participate in Below 100, a nationally recognized safe driver program that aims to keep the number of officers killed or injured in car crashes below 100 nationwide.
