Government fleet sales dropped 20.8%, from 25,670 vehicles in August 2024 to 20,328 last month, continuing the trend from previous months. As of last month's numbers, all government vehicle sales have been consistently lower than last year's sales numbers.
What Vehicle Type Saw the Least Sales?
Car sales dropped 88.7% compared to August of last year with only 78 vehicles reported sold compared to the 692 vehicles sold in 2024. Trucks and SUVs saw a dip of 18.9% with 20,250 vehicle sales this year and 25,670 sales last year [Government fleet totals included only numbers from Ford, GM, and Stellantis. Hyundai, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota sales numbers were not present for government fleets during these periods].
This year's monthly total sales added up to 20,328, which is 5,342 fewer vehicles sold from last year.
Breaking Down Numbers YTD
Looking at YTD numbers, cars once again had the fewest sales compared to last year with 834 vehicles sold so far and 4,787 vehicles reported sold in August 2024. Truck and SUV sales were down 29,277 vehicles from last year's 187,794 vehicles reported sold YTD in August 2024.
So far this year, May saw the highest total monthly vehicle sales at 22,129 vehicles reported sold. January had the lowest amount of monthly total sales at 17,148 vehicles sold.
