The Buffalo (N.Y) Police Department has added 2016 All-Wheel Drive Dodge Chargers to its fleet. Buffalo PD started replacing its aging fleet in 2014, when it first transitioned from blue-and-white patrol sedans to black-and-white Chevrolet Tahoe PPVs. The 61 marked and unmarked Chargers cost over $2 million.

“Public safety continues to be a priority in Buffalo and the new Dodge Chargers are just another way we are improving safety in our neighborhoods, while equipping our police officers with the latest equipment and technology needed to perform,” Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said in a statement. “I’m confident that by continuing to build a mixed police fleet in Buffalo, we will make our city even stronger and safer.”

Buffalo PD's fleet includes 216 marked vehicles and 134 unmarked vehicles, including SUVs, sedans, pickups, motorcycles, Segways, and specialty vehicles for SWAT, the Underwater Recovery Team, the Hazardous Materials Team, the Emergency Response Team, Command Bus, and Skywatch.
