Keith Kerman, Chief Fleet Officer, Deputy Commissioner for the Department of Citywide Administrative Services for the City of New York, was presented with the Legendary Lifetime Achievement Award at the Government Fleet Expo and Conference (GFX).

Andy Campbell of Sourcewell, the award sponsor, presented the award.

Kerman was chosen by the industry among all the Public Fleet Hall of Fame inductees.

"I've been proud to see...just how critical all of you are to the daily financial, sustainable, operating aspects of our lives. And if COVID-19 did anything good — and it didn't do too many things good — it reminded all of us how fleet and driving professionals are essential employees and emergency employees. And how all of our lives depend on everything you did every single day," Kerman said during his acceptance speech at the GFX Honors Celebration.

Kerman worked for New York City Parks from 1994 to 2011. Kerman has worked as the city's first chief fleet officer since 2011.

New York City operates the largest alternative fuel fleet in the US with nearly 20,000 units using hybrids, electric, solar, or biofuels. The city operates the largest EV program and charging network with 3,100+ units and 1,000+ chargers in New York state and has almost additional 1,000 EVs currently on order. The New York City fleet and buildings are among the largest national users of biofuels. Kerman began these efforts while working for NYC Parks and brought them citywide.

He also introduced the nation’s largest live tracking program for fleet vehicles with over 24,000 units currently tracked at the city's Fleet Office of Real Time Tracking (FORT).
