Government fleet sales continued to see an upward tick into October with 234,842 vehicles sold YTD, up 1.7% from 230,928 sales in the same period last year.
Looking at automakers' reports, monthly total sales increased to 23,564 vehicles sold in October 2024 from 21,679 government vehicle sales in October of last year [Hyundai, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota sales numbers were not present for government fleets during this period].
Trucks and SUVs Continue to Lead the Charge
Looking at monthly totals for October, trucks and SUVs led in number of sales with 22,885 vehicles sold, compared to 679 cars sold.
October 2024 truck and SUV sales were also up from October of 2023 seeing a 2,324 difference with 20,561 vehicles sold the previous year and 22,885 sold this year.
Cars were down by a 439 difference, going from 1,118 vehicles sold in October 2023 to 679 sold in October of this year.
YTD Total Sales Seeing Increase
With 3,914 more vehicles sold YTD this year compared to the previous year, sales are looking positive. Between 2023 and 2024, trucks and SUVs saw a 7.4% increase with 15,667 more vehicles sold.
Trucks and SUV sales are also up from last month.
However, YTD, car sales continue to drop with only 6,287 reported sales for 2024 while 2023 saw 18,040 vehicles sold. This is an 11,753 vehicle difference.
Still, with overall vehicles sales bolstered, 2024 could see a stronger wrap up than past years.
