The Rocky Mountain Fleet Management Association (RMFMA) recently announced new board members and winners of the RMFMA annual awards. The news was announced to the general membership at Fleetcon 2014 held earlier this month in Loveland, Colo.

Dave Gonzales, equipment services superintendent for Washoe County, Nev., is now president of the RMFMA following his year serving as president-elect.

Vince Lorefice, public works director, Town of Wickenburg, Ariz., won the general election for president‐elect. Prior to becoming the public works director in 2013, Lorefice worked at the Town of Marana as the facility and fleet manager for 12 years. In 2004, he was awarded the RMFMA Fleet Professional of the Year.

Pete Scarafiotti, CAFM, CEM, CPFP, fleet services director for the City of Mesa, Ariz., is now chairman of the board of RMFMA. Scarafiotti has served the RMFMA in several capacities over the years as the chair of the Arizona chapter, past president, and executive board member on the national board, and the chair of the national website committee.

Terry Kader, fleet superintendent, City of Denton, Texas, was named the 2014 Fleet Professional of the Year. Kader took the leadership challenge at a time that the fleet department was under attack on many fronts. With change in management, internal financial audits, upgrading the fleet management system, poor employee morale, and low customer confidence, Kader met the challenges and accomplished a significant restoration of trust in the department mission and staff.

Charlie Caudill, fleet manager, City of Yuma, Ariz., was named the 2014 Outstanding Fleet Member of the Year. Caudill has been actively involved with RMFMA for more than 33 years and served on both the chapter and national level boards. He has been on the chapter board for more than12 years and served eight years on the national and executive boards. He extended his executive board responsibilities and stayed an extra year at the request of the national board, giving two consecutive years as chairman of the board.

Jeff Sweeney, Cashman Equipment and Nevada Chapter associate, was posthumously awarded the 2014 Kathy Loeb Outstanding Associate Member of the Year. Sweeney was always willing to give time, money, speakers, and meeting locations to the chapter. He understood the importance of the vendor‐customer relationship but never took advantage of what he gave or expected anything in return. This award was presented to and accepted by his wife, Candy Sweeney, in his place.
