Samsara has released a set of AI-powered tools for physical operations, including safety features, a connected wearable, routing and navigation capabilities and maintenance tools.
“These tools are helping customers run safer, more efficient operations while protecting frontline workers,” said Sanjit Biswas, CEO and co-founder of Samsara.
Samsara has invested more than $1 billion in research and development to date and is using its data platform to support customers across sectors that depend on vehicle and worker safety.
Safety Tools for Drivers and Fleets
Driving ranks among the top 10 most dangerous jobs in the U.S., with a 49% increase in fatal crashes over the past decade. Samsara’s new features aim to detect risky driving behaviors and support safer driving.
AI Multicam: Adds up to four additional HD cameras to provide a 360-degree view and real-time hazard alerts for drivers, including notifications about pedestrians and cyclists.
Weather Intelligence: Adds National Weather Service data overlays to dashboards to help warn workers of severe weather or fire risks.
Safety Coaching: Uses AI to help teams manage driver coaching by analyzing risky driving events and providing automated feedback or escalation to managers.
Driver App Updates: Includes short training videos and end-of-day reviews, along with gamification and recognition tools.
Wearable Technology for Worker Safety
Samsara has introduced a wearable device designed to help protect frontline workers on job sites and in remote locations.
Features include:
Long battery life of over a year
One-click connection to emergency services with location and audio sharing
Automatic fall detection
Push notifications for severe weather alerts
Routing and Navigation Updates
Samsara’s new Route Planning and Commercial Navigation tools aim to help fleets reduce costs and improve efficiency. The system can consider vehicle limitations, delivery windows and weather patterns to plan routes and schedules. Fleets can also overlay restrictions, such as weight and height limits, directly onto maps for more accurate routing.
Maintenance and Asset Visibility
New tools for maintenance include:
DVIR Updates: Converts inspection notes from voice to text and tracks inspections for compliance.
Fault Code Intelligence: Uses AI to create maintenance work orders and scan invoices for faster data entry.
Level Monitoring: Provides near real-time visibility into tank levels to help manage inventory.
Partnership with HappyRobot
Samsara has partnered with HappyRobot to bring AI-powered voice solutions to its customers. The technology automates communications via phone, email and text to improve efficiency in driver notifications, customer updates and other communications.
The HappyRobot integration is now available in the Samsara App Marketplace.
