The National Conference of State Fleet Administrators (NCSFA) hosted its annual State Fleet Manager’s Workshop in Nashville, Tenn., from Oct. 7-9.

"This two-and-half day intensive workshop is popular among attendees because of the intimate setting that brings together fleet managers with key vendor partners," said Cindy Dixon, NCSFA president. "At the NCSFA Workshop, networking is a key component of the event. Attendees are able to establish and build on relationships that assist them throughout the year."

At the conference, the association elected its new executive committee and announced awards recipients.

The following new Executive Committee members were elected:

  • President-Elect: Bob Williams, State of Tennessee

  • Vice President: Scott Edwards, State of Colorado

  • Secretary: Robin Rehborg, State of North Dakota

  • Member at Large: Beth Neeman, State of Delaware

  • Member at Large: Tara Merrifield, State of New Hampshire

Dixon remains in her role as president. Barb Bonansinga, State of Illinois, continues to serve as past president. Harmony Wilder, State of Vermont, remains as treasurer, and Paul Hanson, State of Minnesota, remains as a member at large.

Additionally, the NCSFA Corporate Committee elected new representatives. Ron Katz of Chevin Fleet will serve as lead corporate liaison, and Ryan Kelly with WEX, Inc. will serve as corporate liaison-elect.

The State of Delaware Fleet Services was given the Fleet Excellence award for its integration of telematics throughout the fleet. This integration enabled the state to produce measurable results including a reduction of past due preventive maintenance, increased utilization of fleet assets, rightsizing of the fleet, and safety enhancements.

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte was given the Environmental Leadership award for its efforts to expand the use of low-speed electric vehicles throughout the campus. The university was able to maintain fuel use levels despite significant growth at the university.

The Distinguished Member award was given to outgoing Lead Corporate Liaison Denise Baumgart of WEX, Inc. Baumgart has been a member and devoted advocate for NCSFA for years and was instrumental in increasing corporate membership, participation, and an annual sponsorship structure to sustain the organization.

Highlights of the 2015 workshop included fleet reports from each represented fleet, roundtable sessions, and numerous educational sessions and panel discussions covering a variety of fleet topics. One hundred percent of attendees responding to the workshop review survey said that they would recommend the workshop to a colleague.

“I find the direct communication and information sharing absolutely invaluable. I make connections here that help me with all my issues throughout the year,” said Tara Merrifield, fleet manager for the State of New Hampshire.

NCSFA will host its 2016 State Fleet Manager’s Workshop Sept. 14-16, 2016 in Portland, Maine. For more details, visit NCSFA online at www.ncsfa.net.
