Fullerton, Calif., to Finish New CNG Station by End of Year

FULLERTON, CA – The City of Fullerton, Calif., is building a new compressed natural gas fueling station using $400,000 in grant funding from the Mobile Source Air Reduction Review Committee (MSRC). The City expects construction of the station to finish by the end of the year. The City used an additional $50,000 to purchase two CNG-fueled vehicles. The MSRC awarded these funds in 2010.

Fullerton will be able to collect revenue from private vehicle owners who choose to fuel up at the CNG station. Collected revenues will go into implementing the City’s alternative fuel plan.

The City said it plans to gradually replace vehicles in its fleet of 400. Fullerton chose CNG due to its low cost relative to diesel and for reduced emissions.
