Results for the 2025 Model Year Police Vehicle Evaluation have been released by the Michigan State Police Vehicle Test Team. This year, 14 different vehicles were tested, including the following:
Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3l RWD
Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L 4WD
Chevrolet Silverado Z7X 4WD
Chevrolet Silverado Z71 4WD
Dodge Durango 5.7l AWD
Dodge Durango 3.6L AWD
Ford PI Utility 3.3L Hybrid AWD
Ford PI Utility 3.3L AWD
Ford F-150 Responder 3.5L Ecoboost
MSP also tested the BMW R 1250 RT-P, Harley Davidson Electra Glide, and Harley Davidson Road Glide.
The MSP, which has been testing police vehicles annually since the 1950s and motorcycles since 2004, vehicle evaluation testing is conducted to recommend suitable vehicles for public agencies based on their operational needs.

Gaining Momentum, Vehicles Vie for Top Speed
What's most important when thinking about acceleration? Likely, it's the vehicle's ability to quickly cover the distance between point A and point B — ultimately, it's the efficiency of converting power into motion that defines true performance.
So, how did vehicles fare this year? Before we jump into overall top speed numbers let's start with top performers in the 0-60 range. The Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD, reaching 0-60 in 5.08 seconds, and the Ford F-150 Responder 3.5L Ecoboost, just behind at 5.95 seconds, beat out the other vehicles in this test.
However, the BMW R 1250 RT-P was the true winner at 4.03 seconds. The Harley Davidson Electra Glide and Road Glide came in at 5.34 and 5.49 seconds.

They were followed by Ford's PI Utility 3.0L Ecoboost AWD at just over six seconds and the Chevrolet Silverado Z71 4WD at 7.28 seconds. The Dodge Durango 5.7l AWD made it in just 7.30 seconds while the Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3l RWD and Chevrolet Silverado Z7X 4WD tied at 7.52 seconds.
Not far behind was the Ford PI Utility 3.3L Hybrid AWD reaching 60 mph in 7.76 seconds while the Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L 4WD got there in 7.85 seconds.
The Ford PI Utility 3.3L AWD and Dodge Durango 3.6L AWD took the most time at 8.77 and 9.03 seconds, respectively.
Going from 0 to 80, the Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD was once again at the top, at 7.59 seconds, only slightly behind the BMW R 1250 RT-P at 6.16 seconds. The Blazer was also the fastest (right after the R 1250 RT-P at 9.36 seconds), going from 0-100 in only 11.23 seconds, even beating out both Harley Davidson models. The Ford PI Utility 3.0L Ecoboost AWD and Ford F-150 Responder 3.5L Ecoboost tied at 9.44 seconds at 0-80.

However, taking it from 0-100 the Ford PI Utility 3.0L Ecoboost came in a fraction faster at 14.03 with the Ford F-150 Responder 3.5L Ecoboost clocking in at 14.81 seconds.
With times of 11.85 seconds and 11.86 seconds for 0-80, the Chevrolet Silverado Z71 4WD and Dodge Durango 5.7l AWD were neck and neck while the Ford PI Utility 3.3L Hybrid AWD, Chevrolet Silverado Z7X 4WD, Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3l RWD 12.18, and Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L 4WD were all within the 12-second range.
For both 0-60 and 0-100 tests, the Ford PI Utility 3.3L AWD and Dodge Durango 3.6L AWD took the longest out of the vehicles to reach their fastest speed.
Fast, Faster, Fastest Among the Vehicles
But what about vehicle top speed? That title went to the Ford PI Utility 3.0L Ecoboost AWD with a top speed of 148 mph.
Coming in second was the Ford PI Utility 3.3L Hybrid AWD and Ford PI Utility 3.3L AWD at 136 mph each. At 130 mph was the Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L RWD, Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD, and Dodge Durango 5.7L AWD.
The Dodge Durango 3.6L AWD had a top speed of 127 mph; the Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L 4WD's top speed was 124 mph, and the Ford F-150 Responder 3.5L Ecoboost clocked in at 121 mph.
Both the Chevrolet Silverado Z7X 4WD and Z71 4WD closed it out at 112 mph.
Among the three motorcycles tested the BMW R 1250 RT-P 137 reached a speed of 137 mph while the Electra Glide and Road Glide reached 110 mph each.

Breaking Down Breaking and Projected Stopping
For vehicle braking, several of Chevrolet's models proved to have the best stopping power, achieving the lowest projected stopping distances from 60 mph.
Beating out last year's winner — the Police Interceptor Utility 3.0L Ecoboost at 129.4 ft. projected stopping distance — the Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD came to a stop at 128.16 ft.
The Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L RWD stopped at 129.83 ft., and the Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L 4WD stopped at 133.81.

The Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.3L Hybrid AWD and Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.0L EcoBoost AWD were in close competition, with stops at 135.29 and 136.99 ft.
In comparison, the Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.3L AWD stopped at 138.40 ft. and the Dodge Durango 5.7L AWD at 139.90 ft.
Rounding out the middle was the Chevrolet Silverado Z71 4WD at 140.17 ft., the Dodge Durango 3.6L AWD at 141.66 ft., and the Chevrolet Silverado Z7X 4WD at 146.55.
The Ford F-150 Police Responder 3.5L EcoBoost took the longest to brake at 151.83 ft.
Out of the R 1250 RT-P and the two Harley Davidsons, the R 1250 RT-P took the shortest amount of time braking at 143.18 ft. compared to 149.39 ft. and 158.08 ft.

Vehicle Dynamics Testing — How Fast is Fast?
When it came to vehicle dynamic testing, there were a few vehicles jostling to be on top. However, same as last year, the Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.0L EcoBoost AWD beat out the competition with the fastest average lap speed of 96 seconds. This was a hair slower than the previous year when it clocked in at 95.1 seconds.
Coming in a few seconds behind, and all neck and neck to come in second fastest, was the Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L RWD at 99.0 seconds, the Dodge Durango 5.7L AWD at 99.2 seconds, the Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L 4WDat 99.8 seconds, and the Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD at 99.9 seconds.
Both the Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.3L Hybrid AWD and the Ford F-150 Police Responder 3.5L EcoBoost 4WD had an average lap speed of 100 seconds.
The Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.3L AWD came in at 100.2 seconds, a bit slower than last year's 98.1 seconds. Right behind was the Chevrolet Silverado Z71 4WD with an average lap speed of 100.9 while the Dodge Durango 3.6L AWD had an average of 101.9 seconds.
The Chevrolet Silverado Z7X 4WD followed with the slowest speed at 102 seconds.
