SALINAS, CA - Monterey County executive management is no longer automatically eligible for a county car or mileage reimbursement, according to the Salinas Californian.
Following the controversy over Emergency Services Manager Tom Lynch's use of his county-owned vehicle in November, the new rules approved Dec. 15 allow only those whose work necessitates the use of a car to have access to county-owned vehicles.
The policy will be grandfathered in for elected county officials, not going into effect until after their terms expire, reported the Californian.
